Texturised yarns made by simultaneous stretching and crimping of spun polyester fibres with double reaction of 0.001-0.145 are treated at 70-140 degrees C and pH 9-12 with an aq. soln. of quaternary ammonium cpd. of formula R1R2R3R4N+X-, (in which R1 is alkyl or alkenyl with at least 8C atmos, R2 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or any gp. derived from these, R3 and R4 are 1-4C alkyl, R2R3 and R4 together, or R3 and R4 together may form a ring, X is halogen, hydroxyl or R-OSO3, R being alkyl). The yarns are used in the mfr. of knitted or woven fabrics esp. for clothing. Anti-pilling properties are strikingly improved without adverse changes in mechanical or dyeing properties or texture of the yarn.
