<p>1386054 Sulphur dioxide from acid waste METALLGESELLSCHAFT AG 6 July 1973 [8 July 1972] 32386/73 Heading ClA [Also in Division F4] Acid waste, such as sulphuric acid waste, to be processed is atomized into a furnace by a rotary atomizer. As shown, the atomizer comprises an atomizing cup 3 secured to a rotary shaft 4 and provided with a disc 7 having semicircular apertures 7a. The cup is surrounded by a housing having an inlet 12 for primary air and by a second housing having an inlet 11 for secondary air, and is fed with sulphuric acid waste through a fixed conduit 1. Exhaust gases, including sulphur dioxide, from the furnace are cooled in a steam generator, Fig. 2 (not shown), from which the steam passes to a superheater. Flue gases fron the superheater are used to preheat the secondary air flowing to the atomizer inlet 11.</p> |
