<p>The truck has a unit engaging with the load overhung at one end, being typically a forklift truck. The forks etc. can be slid in the lengthwise direction of the truck, so that when travelling, the load is above the truck itself, typically directly above the driving wheels. The forks can be mounted on a slide travelling on the truck chassis in the horizontal direction, the mast being secured to the slide, whose length is approximately half that of the chassis. Where the forks are mounted on a vertical slide, the height of the latter can be roughly double the height of the truck from the ground. The controls for the different motions can be enclosed in the truck chassis.</p> |
