The disclosure is directed to 1-substituted-6-(2-hydroxy-3-substituted aminopropoxy)xanthen-9-ones which have the formula WHERE R1 is hydrogen or di(lower)alkylamino(lower)alkyl; and R2 and R3 when taken separately are hydrogen or lower alkyl and when taken together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached are morpholino, piperazino, N-lower alkyl-piperazino, piperidino, lower alkylpiperidino and phen(lower)alkyl piperidino.
