The coaxial components of the damper are able to rotate relative to each other and the system has a number of springs. The torsion damper has a hub with inner splines for connecting with a splined shaft. The helical springs held in pockets are arranged so that they act in opposite directions on their pitch circle when the coaxial discs of the clutch assembly are displaced by torsional vibrations from their equilibrium position. One of the springs is compressed and the other one is released depending on the displacement directions. These springs are preloaded in their neutral position so that they form a centering arrangement for restoring the coaxial discs into their neutral position.
