<p>The containers are of constant width and height, the volume depending on the length. The number of supports necessary depends on the volume. Each support consists of a box piece passing beneath the container and two verticals, one on either side of the container and curved round the top of the container, joined at their ends. The verticals are of U-section, and can be hooked together to form rows of connected containers. The verticals and base are placed in grooves in the container walls and bottom, so that the weight of the container is not carried on the base. The connection of the ends of the verticals can be by a bolt passing through holes in upturned parts of the U-sections, or by a hook and lever device held closed by a locking wire.</p> |
