1421986 Seaming SILO VERFAHRENS AG 14 Feb 1973 [2 March 1972] 7356/73 Heading B3J U-sections at right angles to each other on sheet 11, 12, Fig. 2, are seamed by enclosing one within the other, deforming an arm 19 in a first deforming means, Fig. 3, and in a second deforming means, Fig. 4, deforming an arm 21 and a base 23 and also bringing the arms 18, 19 into parallelism, deformation of the arm 21 and base 23 preventing spring-back of the arm 19. Next the seam is closed, Fig. 5, before being turned at right angles to the sheet, Fig. 6 (not shown). Flat metal sheets may be seamed, or the seam may extend axially, helically or in the form of a ring about a tube. Stamping tools with feed rolls may be used to form the seam or, as shown, rollers 2-7 are used which are connected by gears and driven by chains. |
