<p>Electrical motor, which may be used in a three phase form, has an overall square cross section and oblong form. The stator is made up from laminations and is housed in a casing with a square cross section longitudinal rib (2) at each corner, the ribs also carrying the motor cover plates. The central rotor (10) and windings have longitudinal air cooling passages (13) supplied from some driven source external to the motor. The cooling volume is designed to be greater than 40% and may exceed 60% of the rotor volume. Cooling is also provided in the stator block by ventilation tubes (14) running parallel to the corner ribs.</p> |
