1423326 Chaffer sieve for combine harvesters INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO 8 Feb 1974 [8 Feb 1973] 05964/74 Heading A1F A chaffer sieve 56 is pivotally secured via two hinges 74 to the rear of the grain pan 44 of a combine harvester. Each hinge comprises a nut and bolt assembly 80, 88 connected between the horizontal ridge 72 of a main frame 46, integral with the grain pan, and a sub frame 70 which comprises L section channels 91- on which the sieve is slidably supported. To allow pivotal movement each horizontal ridge 72 abuts the inner vertical face of the corresponding L section, the weight of the latter being partially supported by washers 90. The shaft of each bolt 80 is embraced by a sleeve 87 which passes through the aperture in the horizontal face of the corresponding L section and abuts washer 90. The rear of subframe 70 is held in engagement with frame 46 by nut and bolt assemblies 98, 100 while sleeves 92 which embrace the shafts of bolts 98 connect between the horizontal ridge 72 and the horizontal face 86 of the L sections. To remove the sieve, nuts 100 are unscrewed and the subframe 70 allowed to pivot downwardly until it abuts support members 108, 106, nut and bolt assemblies 118 which secure the sieve to the L sections are then removed and the sieve may be slid out from between the L sections.
