<p>A stuffer crimping apparatus in which an outer hollow wheel and an inner roller wheel are mounted on eccentrically positioned rotatable shafts with the outer rolling surface of the inner wheel being pressed toward the inner rolling surface of the outer hollow wheel to form an extended nip zone engaging the yarn. The two wheels also form between their rolling surfaces a yarn feed chamber at the entry to the nip zone and a crimping or stuffing chamber adjacent the exit of the nip zone. The apparatus is particularly useful for crimping synthetic thermoplastic yarns.</p> |
