1441786 Hospital beds SIDDAL & HILTON Ltd 30 Oct 1974 [1 Nov 1973] 50784/73 Heading A4J [ Also in Division E2 ] A side frame of a hospital bed is pivotably foldable to a stowed position after being freed by an initial translatory motion relative to the bed frame. As shown Fig. 1, (not shown) the side frame is of the parallelogram linkage type and remains in a vertical plane along one side of the bed in both collapsed and erect positions. A fitting 10 Fig. 2 controls side frame support arm 22 furthest from the patient. Lands 16, 18 project from the fitting 10. Co-operating notch 28 and lug 26 are formed on fitting 10 and support 22 respectively. A safety catch 32 is operated by handle 38. Operation:- After clockwise rotation of handle 38 (either against gravity or spring-bias or both) the member 22 is raised vertically to allow the lower heel to clear corner 42 of land 16 and to allow lug 26 to clear the top of the fitting 10. Clockwise rotation of support 22 about pin 20 is then possible. To re-errect, the support 22 is rotated anti-clockwise, the cam surface 40 coacting with the corner 42 to cause lug 28 to clear the top of the fitting 10. When vertical, the support 22 drops to the position shown and is automatically locked by catch 32. |
