The mechanism for producing energy from wave or tidal motion of water comprises an arm (1) pivoted (6) to a fixed support (2) at one end (1a) and carrying a float (3) at the other end (1b). This rests on the water surface (4) and is moved up and down by the waves (4a). One or more pump cylinders (5) are arranged between a fixed point (5c) of the arm between the pivot (6) and the float (3). Pumping only takes place during the downward stroke of the arm. The pump suction tube (9) may be provided with a strainer end (9a). The pump may be so connected that the arm disengages when its movement exceeds a given stroke. |
