Low alloy steel rod is given a pearlite structure and is then cold-drawn to initiate work hardening. The rod is then drawn through a die producing a reduction in area of between 10 and 40 percent. The wire leaving the die is heated to 300 DEG -450 DEG C and then forcibly cooled. |
