<p>Metal values are extracted from a manganiferous oxide ore, particularly sea nodules, containing non-ferrous metal values selected from the group consisting of nickel, cobalt and copper, by leaching the raw ore in an acidic medium under atmospheric pressure and in the presence of a sulfide to reduce the tetravalent manganese to the soluble divalent state, thereby oxidizing the sulfide to elemental sulfur, and simultaneously to solubilize metal values in the leach solution.</p> |
