摘要 1379642 Gyroscopes ANSCHUTZ & CO GmbH 26 June 1972 [24 June 1971] 29887/72 Heading G1C A north-seeking gyro device comprises a gyrosystem 10, 12, 16, having freedom of movement in three axes, supported by a strip 18 in a support body 30. When a horizontally rotating rotor 16 is displaced from the meridian its axis of rotation 14 tilts and precession of the gyro-system 10, 12, 16 about the meridian results. A motor 44 then slaves the support 30 to the gyro-system 10, 12, 16 by utilizing a mirror 48 and a photo-electric device 50 which supply a signal to the motor 44 proportional to the azimuthal difference between the support 30 and gyro-system 10, 12, 16. The common vertical oscillatory rotation of the gyrosystem 10, 12, 16 and the support 30 is kept constant by controlling the oscillatory rotation of the gyro-system 10, 12, 16 by means of a counter torque generator 22, 24. Since in uncontrolled precession the velocity and angle of tilt of the rotor 16 increases as the meridian is approached and decreases when the meridian is passed, the force required to keep the angle of tilt of the rotor axis 14 and the angular velocity of the precession constant varies from a maximum at the extremities of the precession to zero at the meridian. Thus a zero output from a constant value controller 54 which controls the generator 22, 24 coincides with the gyro-system 10, 12, 16, and hence a theodolite 36 mounted on the support body, being directed along the meridian. This null output is detected by a zero sensor 62 causing, for example, a breaking of contact 64 so as to stop the motor 44 and hence movement of the theodolite 36. In a modification the gyro-system is not supported as a pendulum, the supporting moment generator then being effective about the Y axis being controlled by for example, a clinometer. A further torque generator is then required which acts about the vertical axis. For exact indications of the meridian a time switch is provided to ensure that the spin vector of the rotor 16 forms a sufficiently large angle with the meridian when the rotor has reached full speed. This then allows a constant speed to be established on the precessing gyro-system.
