The protected connection is intended for electric equipment immersed in a conducting fluid, such as a submersible pumps for water etc., and consists of a standard electric connection inside a chamber (5) filled with a dielectric liquid (8) that is immiscible with the conducting fluid surrounding the equipment or device, and has a specific gravity greater than that of the surrounding fluid. The connecting cable passes out through the top of the dieelectric liquid chamber. The advantage of this immiscible liquid insulation lies in its preventing moisture etc. from causing short circuits etc, and it is especially suitable for tropical regions.
