The delivery valve is fitted between the injector pump outlet and the injector valves and consists of a bore (16) whose one end forms a stop (17) for a hollow cylindrical unit (19) and joins the pump chamber. Between the ends of the bore an outlet (18) leads to the distributor part of the pump. The hollow unit has ribs (20) extending along its outer periphery which contact the bore inner wall and form a fuel channel. The hollow unit is pressed against the stop (17) by a spring (21) coiled around a conical abutment (23) which passes into the hollow unit. A piston (24) fitted inside the hollow unit, uncovers a bore (25) in the side of the hollow unit, when subjected to pressure from the pump chamber, allowing fuel to pass via the ribs (20) to the distributor outlet (18). After delivery the spring (21) snaps the hollow cylinder (19) back against the stop (17) and pressure from the injector forces the piston (24) back to return some of the fuel to the pump chamber. |
