1531302 Grounding electro-photographic members XEROX CORP 6 Sept 1976 [15 Sept 1975] 36772/76 Heading G2X A xeroradiographic plate comprises a conductive support, a barrier layer, a photo-conductive layer, and optionally an overcoat layer, the marginal areas of the top layer having a metal coating which extends via the edges to the support so that the photo-conductive layer is in electrical contact with the photo-conductive layer. In the Example, Al sheets are held in steel rectangular frames above a glow bar and are subjected to glow discharge to form a barrier oxide layer before vacuum depositing chlorine doped Se/As alloy on to the barrier layer. The frames are then removed and 3 plates are overcoated with a mixture of polyester, polyurethane and vinylidene chloride/acrylonitrile copolymer and 3 plates are not. A differently selected 3 plates have all but their margins covered by stainless steel plates and Al or Ag is vacuum deposited on the margins and the sides. It was found that there were less marginal irregularities in the Al or Ag coated plates than the non-coated plates on uniform charging, exposure to X-rays and development. |
