<p>The growth of plant buds, branches and shoots is inhibited by application of a 2,6-dinitroaniline deriv. of formula (I): (where R1 and R2 are lower alkyl, pref. s- or t-butyl). (I) can be used, e.g. to inhibit shoot growth in potatoes, bud formation in peach trees, branch growth in tree grafting stocks, and the growth of low-lying laterals in apple trees. Pref. (I) is 4-t-butyl-N-s-butyl-2,6-dinitroaniline. They are pref. applied in the form of solns. contg. 0.001-1 (esp. 0.1-0.5) wt. % of (I). The application rate is pref. 0.453-1.36 kg/0.4 ha.</p> |
