Machine workpiece clamping table - has plate bearing against shiftable supports with matching serrations and spacers for stepped height variation

The clamping table of a press allows fixing either workpieces or bottom tools for drawing operation, and eliminates complicated conrod length adjustment. It also reduces the moving masses driving the press slide, and thus lowers the load on the crank mechanism bearings. The sides of the press frame carry a back-up unit (3) for supporting blocks (4,5) which have serrations that engage similar serrations of the table plate (6). In addition spacers (7) screwed to the serrations provide stepwise variation of the table height. The blocks are moved apart or towards each other by a motor (8) and gearing (9) when clamps (15) of the table plate are released from the grip of the tension rod (18).
