1352451 Nail-magazine for a fastener-driving tool HILTI AG 7 July 1971 [28 Aug 1970] 31803/71 Heading B8C A magazine, fitted with headed nails 16 and for a power-operated fastener driving tool 1, which is adapted to drive the nails, one at a time, by a piston 9 operated by powder detonation, comprises a flat band 17 which is adapted to be inserted into a channel 15 which extends perpendicularly to a piston bore 7 in a stand plate 1a of the tool and which is made of such a material and thickness that the band can be punched through by the heads 16a of the nails as the piston 9 drives each nail, in succession, into material 11. The band, which is preferably made of aluminium alloy, has recesses 17b for effecting feed through the tool 1, a pair of recesses 17a, 17a being cut out round the shank 16c of each nail to define a washer portion which corresponds to the shape of the nail head 16a. When a trigger 3 is pulled a firing pin 4 detonates a cartridge 6 located in a magazine 5 so that the piston head 9a descends in a piston guide 8 and a recessed end 7a of a piston shaft 9c engages a corresponding projection 16b on the respective nail head 16a to drive the nail down through the bore 7 and into the material 11. To raise the piston into its upper, operating, position a handle 12 is depressed to lower the piston guide 8, against the action of a compression spring 14, over the piston head 9a to engage friction surfaces 13 thereon. The handle is then released so that the spring 14 raises the guide 8 carrying the piston 9 with it into its operating position. The entrance side of the channel 15 has a groove which receives the heads 16a of the nails. |
