<p>1367403 Helmets N DALY 25 April 1972 [23 Dec 1971] 19188/72 Heading A3V [Also in Division B5] A protective helmet comprises a dome portion 1 and downwardly extending side portions 3, intended in use to cover the ears of a wearer, the helmet consisting of spaced inner and outer shells 6, 4 the space therebetween being filled with a core of foamed polystyrene, and the edges of the shells 4, 6 are held together by an edging 9. The shells themselves are preferably of A.B.S. though where greater strength is required the outer shell 4 may be made from fibreglass-reinforced synthetic resin. The inner shell 6 may be provided with raised ribs 10 to provide ventilating passages, and also, if desired, with a soft resilient padding slot 12 may be formed in the inner shell 6 for the anchorage of lugs 13 for securing a head band, (not shown) within the helmet. Similar lugs may also be provided for an occipital strap or chin strap or both.</p> |
