<p>The powder contains >90 (wt.)% K sulphate, is not >3, pref, 0.5-1.5% alkali H sulphate, pref. K-H sulphate and additive(s) facilitating delivery. Part of the K-H sulphate can be reacted with ammonia, which pref. is formed by the reaction of monoammonium phosphate and CaO in the powder. Addn. of K-H sulphate increases the extinguishing power, whilst reaction on this with ammonia prevents undesirable side-effects due to its acid reaction. In an example, a dry extinguishing powder consisted of 800 pts. K sulphate, 5 pts. K-H sulphate, 8 pts. CaO, 8 pts. monoammonium phosphate, 3 pts. silicone oil and 5 pts. hydrophobised silica.</p> |
