The warning horn for a moped etc. employs an electromagnet (4) supplied by a variable frequency AC source and an armature (6) associated with the magnet (4) and carried by a spring (7). A resonant unit (10) is struck by the armature (6) as the latter moves under the influence of the electromagnet (4). The horn includes a device which allow movement of the armature (6) via the electromagnet (4) during one half of each period of the AC supply. The device may comprise a diode connected in series with the coil of the electromagnet (4) or a permanent magnet inserted in the magnetic circuit of the electromagnet.
