<p>A nonwoven textile material contains randomly arranged organic textile fibres uniformly bonded by a mixt. of (a) an emulsion polymer and (b) an inert filler which increases the mechanical strength of the material. The polymer is present as 2-400 (esp. 10-100) wt % of the fibre wt. and the filler forms 5-80 (esp. 20-40) wt % of the polymer wt. The filler is pref. clay, C2CO3, talc, B2SO4, hydrate of alumina, pyrites, gypsum, Mg silicate, MgCO3, mica or silica. In addition to increasing the strength of the non-woven material, the presence of the filler also reduces the cost of the binder.</p> |
