1529694 Feeding sheets XEROX CORP 24 Oct 1975 43918/75 Heading B8R Sheets are separated from the bottom of a pile on an inclined tray 24, Figs. 1 and 2, by a friction belt separator 110, Figs. 1, 2 and 3, forming a nip with a stationary friction restraining member 100, and advanced to feed rollers 34 and thence to a belt conveyer 50, in two stages, first to a point short of the rollers 34 and second on to an exposure platen 12. The pile is aligned by side guides 26, 27 and a front stop surface 130, while a member 150 presses the pile on to the tray. Exhaustion of sheets is detected to stop the machine. When a sheet is fed to the conveyer 50, its leading edge is sensed by a switch which reverses the conveyer 50 to move the sheet back against a register stop member 40, a baffle 200 closing on the member 40 to prevent upward movement of the trailing edge. A member 400 causes the belt to exert less friction during its reverse movement. |
