The invention describes a complex process, and machine group for the support of underground cavities such as mine roads. In the knowledge of a comprehensive number of the characteristics of the cavity of the rock and of the support apparatus to be employed, a correlative equation determines the best machines to be used for the various stages of the support installation such as determining the periodicity of the support, the determination of the concrete lining, the choice of the forepoling and clamping mechanism and the prestressing of the arch supports.
