The application device is intended particularly for rail vehicles. It has an annular body (7) which can be rotated via a driving device and is mounted between two coaxially arranged, non-rotatably held abutments (1, 14) which can be displaced axially relative to one another. At least one of the opposing faces of the abutments (1, 14) or of the annular body (7) is designed as a helical-track section (8), coaxial with the axis (10) of rotation of the annular body (7), on which at least one roller (9) mounted on the opposite part, i.e. the annular body (7) or the abutment (1, 14), in such a way as to be rotatable about an axis (pin 11) extending radially to the axis (10) of rotation of the annular body (7), can roll. The rollers (9) are preferably mounted on the annular body (7) and the helical-track sections (8) are situated on one of the two abutments (1, 14). The helical-track sections (8) and the rollers (9) are expediently situated only between the annular body (7) and one of the abutments (1), a rolling thrust bearing (12) being arranged between the other abutment (14) and the annular body (7). Such an application device is versatile in its applications, has a good efficiency and suffers little wear in operation. <IMAGE>
