PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid sterilization method capable of ultraviolet sterilization by a UV-LED even to solution such as juice and milk or suspension for example.SOLUTION: A liquid sterilization method includes: (1) a process of allowing liquid to be sterilized being solution or suspension to flow through a flow channel 3 which is formed between a pair of partitions parallelly arranged with a gap of a predetermined width; and (2) a process of irradiating liquid to be sterilized passing through the flow channel with ultraviolet ray from one or two ultraviolet ray emitting surfaces 21a,21b provided for one or both of two facing surfaces of the pair of partitions, in which a width of the gap in a direction perpendicular to the ultraviolet ray emitting surface is the sum total or less of effective optical path lengths of the one or two ultraviolet ray emitting surfaces, and the effective optical path length of the ultraviolet ray emitting surface is defined as a thickness of a layer of the liquid to be sterilized at which irradiance of permeation ultraviolet ray when ultraviolet ray irradiated from the ultraviolet ray emitting surface permeates the layer of liquid to be sterilized becomes 0.001 mW/cm.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
