PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive unit which is excellent in mountability.SOLUTION: A first frame end 34 has a plurality of flange parts 44 which protrude to the outside of a radial direction. A case 33 has a plurality of flange parts which are arranged while responding to the flange parts 44, and fastened to the flange parts 44 with bolts 37. The flange parts 44 and the flange parts are located inside a virtual square SQ1 which externally contacts with the case 33 at a cross section of a shaft 41. A drive unit 10 which is constituted as above can enhance mountability compared with a drive unit in which the flange parts are located outside the virtual square SQ1. In the case that a drive unit is of a rack assist type which is arranged between a rack shaft and the ground G, a mounting space between the rack shaft and the ground G can be reduced to a dimension near an outside diameter of the case 33 by mounting the drive unit so that one side of the virtual square SQ1 and the ground become substantially parallel with each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
