The alloys must satisfy the following conditions: (1) 0À48 Cr + 0À32 W + 0À52 Mo + 8À12 Al + 1À08 Ta + 1À92 Nb + 4À28 Ti + 0À8 Hf = 56 to 63. (2) W + 1À6 Mo = 1À5 to 2À8 (Ta + 1À6 Nb + 4 Ti) (3) W + Ta + Cr = at least 26À5. The creep resistance and machinability of castings may be improved by preliminary ageing at 800-1050‹C, heat-treatment at 20 to 80 degrees below the solidus e.g. at 1250‹C, and ageing at 800-1000‹C. The alloys exhibit particularly improved creep resistance at and above 900‹C.
