PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device with a double liquid crystal panel structure and a backlight with an area control, in which the unevenness of the liquid crystal panel is improved and the contrast is increased by the area control of the backlight.SOLUTION: The display device includes a first panel whose light transmission can be controlled, a second panel which is provided on a rear surface of the first panel and whose light transmission can be controlled, light-emitting means which is provided on a rear surface side of the second panel and which includes a plurality of control areas in which the luminance can be controlled independently, calculating means that calculates the control value of each control area on the basis of the feature amount in each of divided areas of image data for the control areas, first controlling means that controls the transmission of the first panel on the basis of the image data, and second controlling means that controls the transmission of the second panel on the basis of the control value of each control area and the unevenness information corresponding to the information on the variation of the transmission of the light having entered the second panel, transmitting the first panel, and emitted from the first panel for each pixel.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
