The invention relates to a vertical settling tank mounted within a municipal and/or industrial waste water purification plant. According to the invention, the settling tank comprises a compartment (1) in which a central pipe (1f) is mounted, a system (7) for the supply of a bi-phase air-water mixture and a foam discharge system (4) which comprises a pipe (4c) mounted vertically inside a central pipe (1f) of the supply system (7), the free end of the pipe (4c) being placed at the free water surface, so that only the surface-formed foam is collected, and is continued downwards with an elbow (4b) connected to a horizontal pipe (4a) for foam discharge which passes through the central pipe (1f) and then a ring shell (1a), the system (7) for the supply of the bi-phase air-water mixture consisting of a pipe (7b) supplying the bi-phase air-water mixture fixed to the exterior of the central pipe (1f), at the end of which the supply pipe (7b) is continued with an elbow (7c) continuing, in its turn, inside the central pipe (1f) with a pipe (7d) at the end of which there is a torus with alternating holes (7e) wherethrough the bi-phase mixture enters the compartment (1), the said torus (7e) being positioned under a water supply system (3). |
