These are preferably hollow spheres of diameter 5 to 150 Ám, mean diameter about 40 Ám and wall thickness 1 to 2 Ám. They may constitute 8 to 11 % by weight of the cathode, e.g. the cathode may comprise 5 parts by weight m-dinitrobenzene, 5 parts by weight graphite and 1 part by weight of hollow carbon pellets. The cell may have a magnesium anode and may be of the construction disclosed in U.S. Specification 3,445,295. |
