PURPOSE:Monomethyl terephthalate and p-toluic acid are heated in the presence of at least one catalyst selected from compounds of Mo, W, Ti, Mg, Ca, Mn, Fe, Y, La, Se, Te, and Sn to produce terephthalic acid. CONSTITUTION:Monomethyl terephthalate and p-toluic acid are heated at 200- 280 deg.C in the presence of at least one catalyst selected from the group consisting of Mo, halides of Mo, molybdenic acid, oxides of W, sulfates of Ti, halides of Mg, Ca, Mn, Fe, Y, La, Ce, Nd, oxides of Se, telluric acid, halides of Sn, and trip-henylphosphine to produce terephthalic acid. EFFECT:Colorless products can be obtained in short times in high yield. |
