A vacuum cleaning nozzle has a brush roller 14 whose bristles extend through a suction opening 13 of the nozzle, and the front wall 12 includes a shaped portion 21 having an edge 24 which is the leading edge of the suction opening. The portion 21 may be of inverted V- section. The lower plate 24 of the housing includes a shaped portion 22 which has an edge 25 which is the rear edge of the suction opening.
