PURPOSE:To prepare tomaymycins having antibacterial activity, antiphagic activity, and activity to inhibit the growth of mouse leukemia cell L-121, and useful as a disinfectant, by culturing microbials belonging to Nocardia genus. CONSTITUTION:Antibiotic substance tomaymycine of formula (R is H, 1-5C alkyl) having a benzodiazepin structure, is prepared by culturing microbials belonging to Nocardia genus and capable of producing tomaymycins, e.g. Nocardia sp. No. C-15003 (FERM-P No.3992) usually at 20-35 deg.C. The temperature in the middle stage of cultivation is pref. 23-30 deg.C, and pH at the beginning of the cultivation is pref. 6.5-7.5. The period of culturing is 2-8 days in case of aerated and agitated culturing. |
