In order to carry out gymnastics exercises, in particular for strengthening stomach and back muscles, two supports (1, 2) with bearings (9) for a bar (3) are provided. For exercises involving bending from the hips the supports can be erected with a first surface (8) on door frames (4, 5) and with a second surface (7) on the floor, and the bar spanning the distance between the supports serves to support the feet. This apparatus can be used in an apartment without damaging doors or walls and can be easily put away. <IMAGE>
