NEW MATERIAL:Compound of formula [R<1> is 7-17C aliphatic hydrocarbon; X is H or methyl; Y is -CH2CH2- or a group of formula II (R<4> is H, 1-4C alkyl, benzyl, etc.); k is 2 or 3; R<2> and R<3> are H, methyl or -CH<2>CH<2>OH]. EXAMPLE:N-Laurolyglutamic acid di(dimethylamino-n-propyl)amide. USE:Cationic surface-active agent. No skin-irritation and high safety. Excellent permeability, fiber-softening effect, antifungal effect, and preventive effect against pathogenic bacteria of plant blights. PROCESS:Compound of formula I is obtained by the condensation reaction of a compound of formula III (R<5> is 1-4C alkyl) with a compound of formula IV in a solvent such as benzene, if necessary. The reaction is carried out by heating at a temperature above room temperature, preferably between 70 deg.C and the reflux temperature, for 3-10 hr. |
