<p>1519854 Mounting oxygen lances SIEGERLANDER KUPFERWERKE GmbH 14 Aug 1975 [14 Aug 1974] 33930/75 Heading F4B A lance 16 for introducing oxygen into a furnace molten metal bath comprises an arcuate stem 21 and an arcuate head portion 22, and mounting means for adjusting both the distance of the lance head 22 from the metal surface 4 and the incident angle of the oxygen jet issuing therefrom, the mounting means comprising a carriage 9 supported by means of guide rollers 10, 11 and 12 for longitudinal displacement on an arcuate guide rail 8. The guide rail 8 is equipped with stops 13 for limiting the path of travel of the carriage, and means 14 are provided for securing the carriage in any desired position on the guide rail by friction or clamping. A connector element 15 comprising pipe unions 17 and 18 for coolant water and a union 19 for oxygen supply is fixed to the carriage 9. A longitudinally displaceable heat shield 23 is provided on the lance to cover an inlet opening 6 in the furnace side wall 1. The lance is fitted with a weight relieving device comprising a load cable 25 extending from and tensioned by a spring drum 24, the cable being guided over a pulley 26 and connected to the carriage 9. The guide rail 8 may be arranged perpendicular to or to be swivelled about a vertical axis so as to form an acute angle with the furnace wall 1.</p> |
