Transport container for irradiated fuel elements - has removable basket to support elements in container or cooling pool

Container for transporting radioactive fuel elements has a basket in which the fuel elements are placed. Basket is placed in and removed from the storage space inside the container. The basket is also used for supporting the fuel elements when they are stored in a cooling pool. Pref. the basket is of a material permeable to liq. more specifically steel mesh. It may be subdivided into compartments, one for each fuel element. Used for the handling of irradiated fuel elements from a reactor to a cooling pool. The use of one basket both inside the container and in the cooling pool simplified handling.
