PURPOSE:In a separation of isotope by chromatography, the shortening of an enrichment time together with the increase of a separation factor is intended by always keeping an equilibrium plateau part isotopically to other an enrichment part than an original sample. CONSTITUTION:As an example, the enrichment of Li, that is, to obtain 15% Li is exemplified. A construction consists of columns A(Pyrex 22mmphiX1300mm), branched valves B and head tanks C, and the cation-exchange resin (Dowex 50W) designated by the symbol a is filled up to 1200mm high, and then 0.3M CH3COOH solution d lets flow downward, thereby provide R-H type. To this is loaded 0.3M CH3COOLi solution C to obtain lithium adsorption zone e which is eluted by 0.3M CH3COONa. By carrying out the operation stated above, <6>Li is enriched at the front end part, and <7>Li at the back end part. For example, after forming an adsorption zone of natural lithium of 3.25cm, a solution containing 15% <6>Li, is passed through the back part to add an adsorption zone of 0.25m. After operating chromatography, the required equilibrium time of 59 days, a migration distance of 46cm and 128cm wide of <6>Li enriched part were obtained. |
