<p>A process for producing high calorie gas from coal, and a gasification furnace used in practising the same. The process comprises ejecting hydrogen gas from the surface of an inclined dispersing plate and forming a layer of obliquely downward moving dust on the dispersing plate, thereby reacting the coal dust with the hydrogen gas at a temperature of from 400 to 900 C under 20 to 100 kg/cm2 of pressure. The gasification furnace is characterized in that the interior of a housing (11) defining a reaction chamber is provided with the dispersing plate (36) disposed at a given slope with respect to the horizontal direction to separate the housing (11) into an upper space A and lower space B. </p> |
