Borehole surveying probe - includes TV camera, inclinometer and gyrocompass

Appts. for monitoring and surveying wells and boreholes on the surface and in mines during the drilling operations consists of a probe which is lowered in the hole on a self-supporting multi-core cable. The probe consists of an upper protect on tube which houses a TV camera, and a lower protective tube which houses an inclinometer and gyrocompass. All output signals are transmitted through the cable to a processor, a computer and a video recorder on the surface. The cable also carries the current for the power supply to the probe. Arrangement saves the delay in obtaining the results from probes containing conventional film cameras and eliminates re-takes if a shot has been spoilt.
