PURPOSE:To eliminate mis-matching in processes of casting and rolling and enhance the overall efficiency of both processes by such things as cutting the bloom of a fixed width produced in a continuous casting unit to the length limited by the width of a recuperation furnace, loading the blooms into the recuperation furnace while their surfaces are still at the specific temperature to recuperate the same then broadside-rolling the same through plural passes. CONSTITUTION:The bloom of a fixed width produced in a continuous casting process A is cut to a length of 70 to 100% of the effective width of a recuperation furnace 2. While the surface temperature of the blooms are still at above 850 deg.C, the cut blooms are subsequently loaded into the recuperation furnace 2 through conveying table 1 whereby they are recuperated. Next, the blooms are taken out onto a conveying table 3, from where they are subjected to broadside rolling in the vertical rolling mill 4-1 and horizontal rolling mill 4-2 of the broadside rolling mill 4, thence they are supplied to the rolling process B. According to this method, the point that the processes of continuous casting and rolling do not match at all while being operated under respectively finest conditions is eliminated during conveying of the blooms between both processes. |
