PURPOSE:To prevent damaging of cylinder packings occuring in rolling impact by mounting the specific cushioning device to the liquid pressure cylinder which support the chocks of the lower backup roll. CONSTITUTION:When a rolling material 12 is inserted between upper and lower work rolls 1, 2 at a high speed, it receives impulsive force in the rolling material pass direction and screw-down direction and the impulsive force in the rolling material pass direction and roll axis direction acts upon a liquid pressure cylinder 10 by way of the chocks 8 of the lower backup roll 7. In the screw-down direction, the work roll 2 and backup roll 7 impulsively deflect and give rotating moment to the cylinder 10 but the cylinder may be tilted stably by the flexible pushings 14, 15 interposed between the cylinder and piston 11. On the other hand, the movement of the cylinder is stably restrained in the rolling material pass direction by a pair of cylinder guides 13A, 13B, whereby no excessive force is given to packings 16. |
