PURPOSE:To improve the magnetic field retention power by coating the surface of a particle with a metal comprised mainly of one or more transition elements followed by surface-treatment through molding and sintering. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a magnetic compound particle represented by the formula: RMz (R: one or more rare earth metals; M: Co or an alloy comprised mainly of Co; z: 6.5...8.8) is coated with a metal or alloy comprised mainly of one or more transition elements. Molding and sintering are effected. By further applying a surface treatment on the powder particle, particularly by controlling the interfacial state between the interior of the particle and an outer layer and an adjacent layer, the magnetic field retention power can be improved. |
