PURPOSE:To effect the deactivation and detoxication of harmful enzymes and prevention of oxidation in the preparation of powdery or milky foods from oilseeds such as soybean, peanuts, etc. by the dry-husking, steaming, and grinding in hot water in a closed vessel, of the seeds. CONSTITUTION:Undefatted raw material is charged into a hopper 1, transferred by a screw conveyor 2 to a tapered grinder 3 and husked. The husked beans are recieved in a container 7, transferred to a hopper 9 of a continuous steamer B by a flexible conveyor 8, and stirred and steamed to deactivate the undesirable enzymes while being transferred by a screw 11. Then the beans are sent to a closed grinder D filled with hot water, and ground with grinding discs 17. The path between the steamer and the grinder is shielded from air to prevent the oxidation of the beans with oxygen. The ground beans are received with a tank 18, and converted into powder or milk by conventional processes. |
