To provide a protection system against overfilling of liq. container vessels, such as oil tanks, milk urns, storage batteries, vehicle fuel etc tanks, that functions as a sealed system as soon as a predetermined liq. level is reached in the container vessel, the latter's filling channel forms a gas-tight sealable filling chamber (5) that can be sealed by the liq. surface (8) and by a liq. bridge (14) retained above the entry orifices (3) by gas pressure. The gas space formed outside the filling chamber above the liq. surface (8) is provided with a continuously active ventilation and degassing orifice.
