PURPOSE:To reduce working face, polishing face and coating face respectively by coating multilayer films on the surface of a parallel plane plate made by optical material which has the specified refractive index and is superior in transmission characteristic of light thereby forming the polarizing face. CONSTITUTION:This is the polarizing beam splitter which allows the transmission of the rays radiated from a light source and meanwhile separates its reflected light and its polarizing face 5 is formed by coating multilayer films of magnesium fluoride, zirconium oxide or the like on one surface of a parallel plane plate 4 made by optical material such as glass, crystal or other material which has the specified refractive index and is superior in transmission characteristic of light. It is disposed with an inclination at the specified angle (e.g., 45 deg.) to the optical axis 6 from the light source, on the light source side of a wavelength plate 3. Such constitution reduces the number of steps, makes working easy and enables the increase in accuracy. |
